This directory contains miscellaneous binaries, in particular
binaries that are more recent than the last release.

See the release directory for official release binaries.

cmucl-YYYYMMDD-arch-platform.tar.{gz,bz2}

Binaries built from current sources, as of the date YYYYMMDD. These
binaries are for platforms and features sets that are known to be
stable, but they have had little testing. More experimental feature
sets or more recent platforms can be found in the experimental
directory. These binaries are intended for people who wish to try out
features that have been added since the last release, but don't wish
to rebuild CMUCL themselves. Please report any problems you encounter
with them to the cmucl-help or cmucl-imp mailing list.

These are complete binaries, including both the base and the extra
files. Files with a .gz extension are compressed using gzip, and those
with a .bz2 extension are compressed using bzip2.

Note the distinction between -sparc- and -sparcv9- platforms, and
likewise -i386- and -x86- (the latter are probably built for i486). A
"cgc" means that the binaries have been built with the conservative
garbage collector rather than the generational conservative garbage
collector. A "small" to the end of the name means that the binaries
have been built in small mode, to generate more compact code.
