MAP SSP releases SSP 2.0

As a founding member and deputy project leader of the Modelica Association Project System Structure and Parameterization PMSF IT Consulting is proud to have contributed to today's release of version 2.0 of the System Structure and Parameterization standard.

SSP version 2.0 is a major milestone for the standard with new features that enable the use of FMI 3.0 and Modelica components, and the exchange of abstract simulation model architectures, improving support for new use cases: advanced co-simulation, virtual Electronic Control Units (vECUs), the next generation of Digital Twins, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving applications.

See the press release for a detailed description of the new features.

Current pre-releases of FMI Bench already support many SSP 2.0 features, with full support of the final release version of SSP 2.0 expected in Q1 2025.

FMI Layered Standard for XCP 1.0.0 Release

The Modelica Association Project FMI has released the 1.0.0 official release of the FMI Layered Standard for XCP (FMI-LS-XCP).

This constitutes the first layered standard on top of the FMI Standard developed and released by the FMI Project. Layered standards are exentions to the core FMI standard for special applications. FMI-LS-XCP defines support of the XCP or “Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol”, a network protocol defined by ASAM.

Current pre-releases of [FMI Bench][FMIBench] already provide support for this newly released standard, with more comprehensive support of the final release version expected in Q1 2025.

FMI 3.0.2 Release

The Modelica Association Project FMI has released the maintenance release version 3.0.2 in parallel with the maintenance release version 2.0.5 of the Functional Mock-up Interface standard.

Both are maintenance releases with clarifications and bugfixes and no new features compared to FMI 2.0.4 and FMI 3.0.1 respectively.

As a long-standing supporter and member of the project, we will support this release with further resources. This includes non-normative sample Test FMUs, which have been updated to the final release, and are being updated to reflect any relevant changes due to 3.0.2.

Further test FMUs are avaliable from the MAP FMI Reference FMUs project repository, which provides test FMUs for FMI 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

OSI Release 3.7.0

ASAM e.V. has released version 3.7.0 (Jolly Jones) of the Open Simulation Interface standard. This is the fifth full release of Open Simulation Interface under the ASAM umbrella.

The release features numerous backward-compatible extensions, including more detailed space modeling of objects via sub-bounding boxes, explicit speed limit information for logical lanes, the transmission of routing information for in-vehicle communication, the modeling of virtual detection areas for sensor visualization and validation, and system time recording for sources of sensor data. It includes many other enhancements and alignments across OpenX standards.

The release can be downloaded from the OSI GitHub pages.

FMI 3.0.1 Release

The Modelica Association Project has released the patch release version 3.0.1 of the Functional Mock-up Interface standard.

This release is the first patch release of FMI 3.0, with a number of clarifications and bugfixes of the FMI 3.0 major release.

As a long-standing supporter and member of the project, we will support this release with further resources. This includes non-normative sample Test FMUs, which have been updated to the final release, and are being updated to reflect any relevant changes due to 3.0.1.

Further test FMUs are avaliable from the MAP FMI Reference FMUs project repository, which provides test FMUs for FMI 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

OSI Release 3.6.0

ASAM e.V. has released version 3.6.0 (Inspiring Irvine) of the Open Simulation Interface standard. This is the fourth full release of Open Simulation Interface under the ASAM umbrella.

The release features numerous backward-compatible extensions, including a new streaming update interface, and HAD function output interface, as well as detailed pedestrian skeleton information, host vehicle kinematics, and enhanced sensor detection data. It includes many other enhancements and alignments across OpenX standards.

The release can be downloaded from the OSI GitHub pages.

FMI 3.0 Implementers' Guide Published

The Modelica Association Project and prostep ivip have jointly published the initial release of the FMI 3.0 Implementer's Guide.

This guide is a free resource intended to give non-normative recommendations and guidance to implementers of the Functional Mock-up Interface.

As a member of both groups involved in the development of this guide, as well as the initial editor of the guide, we invite implementers to use the guide to improve the state of the art of FMI support, and welcome additional input for the future development of the guide, e.g. via its GitHub Repository.

Additional resources that support especially FMI 3.0 implementation can be found here. This includes non-normative sample Test FMUs, which have been updated to the final release.

Further test FMUs are avaliable from the MAP FMI Reference FMUs project repository, which provides test FMUs for FMI 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

SETLevel Final Event

The federally supported German research project SETLevel has presented its core results during the SETLevel Final Event held at the BMW engineering center in Munich, Germany.

As a sub-contractor for some of the SETLevel participating companies, with a special focus on definition and standardization of simulation interfaces, like OSI or OSMP, we were happy to present an overview on industrial standards for the development of automated driving in the second session of the event.
